Services for Richardson Hunter are as follows: Viewing: Saturday September 18, 2021 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM Funeral: Saturday September 18, 2021 3:00 PM Location: Cotton Funeral Service 1025 Bergen Street Newark, New Jersey, 07112 973-926-6400 Hunter (Apricot) was born on November 23, 1946, to the late Marie George Emilien in Dennery, Saint Lucia. He was an only child, raised by his mom. Later in life he traveled to St. Croix to live with his Aunt Titi, and then moved to Texas where he had his two sons Isaac and Kevin. Hunter was a welder throughout his career and often traveled to various locations across the US for work to support his family up until his retirement. He was a proud member of the Steamfitters’ Union. It was during his assignment in New York that he met his wife, Mable and fell in love. In time they moved to Newark, NJ with their children to build their life as a family. Hunter was the ultimate family man, dedicated to ensuring his loved ones were never without. Jovial at heart, and the life of the party, he enjoyed his reggae music and loved to get down! (Knees permitting) You could always find him watching cricket – cheering for West Indies of course – or watching his African shows or reading sports news online. Hunter had a charitable spirit, and often donated to various groups. He leaves behind to mourn: his loving wife Francillia Hunter, his children, Isaac, Kevin, Sallie, Keth, Caroline, Brenda, and Frances, his in-laws, bonus son, aunt, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. His loving presence will be missed by everyone who knew him.
